I began work in the 3D Visualisation industry in 2005 and have watched the advent of XR as we now know it. I have broad expertise in the hardware and software behind XR, its operational deployment, and the development of meaningful applications and use cases.
Since re-joining the University of Glasgow in 2016 I have taken on a significant portfolio of XR work which has led to the creation of the edify XR teaching platform, and the building of ARC XR an extraordinary XR research facility at Glasgow. I am Co-Director of RIG: the centre for immersive realities at Glasgow. I am principal investigator on the Museums in the Metaverse project.
I advise regulators, companies, and other education institutions on the safe and effective deployment of XR and was awarded 2022 Thomas Reid Medal from the Royal Society of Edinburgh in recognition of my work in this field.
